Zain Group has announced the appointment of Mrs Eaman Al Roudhan as CEO of Zain Kuwait, the Group's flagship operation.
Al Roudhan, a Kuwaiti national who has worked for Zain for 18 years, will take on the leadership of Zain Kuwait from start of December. She takes over the role from Omar Al Omar, who will return to Zain Group in a senior advisory role supporting the Zain Group CEO in transforming the company into an integrated digital lifestyle operator.
Al Roudhan will continue to build on the healthy foundation of success laid by Al Omar, who has been CEO of Zain Kuwait since October 2011 and before that the company's Chief Operating Officer and Chief Commercial Officer, having joined Zain back in September 2001.
Commenting on the appointment, Zain Group CEO Scott Gegenheimer said: "With Mrs Al Roudhan's distinguished record and strong background in regulatory affairs, mobile technology, strategy and management, I have every confidence she is the right person to take Zain Kuwait to the next level in solidifying its market leadership. It is also a significant development in Zain's evolution, with Mrs Al Roudhan being the first women appointed to a CEO role within Zain Group operations.
"I would also like to express my gratitude to Omar Al Omar for the hard work he has contributed to Zain Kuwait in various leadership roles. Through his efforts since becoming CEO, Zain Kuwait has substantially increased its customer base as well as maintained its position as the most efficient and profitable operation in the Group. Although he will be missed at an operational, we are very happy to have him joining us at the Group level, and for our other mobile operations to benefit from his vast experience and expertise," he added.
Eaman Al Roudhan said: "I am honoured to be given this prime opportunity to continue my rewarding journey with Zain. As the flagship operation of the Group, Zain Kuwait is deeply entrenched in the telecom, economic and social landscape in the country. I feel a strong sense of responsibility to continue working closely with the Zain Group Board and Executive management as well as the highly talented Zain Kuwait team to maintain the mobile operation's high standards and take it to new heights of innovation and service."
Al Roudhan is a member in a number of international standards and regulatory affairs bodies such as the GSMA Arab World regional interest group and the GSMA Chief Regulatory Officer Group (CROG). She holds a BSc in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from Kuwait University and has attended programs at Tokyo Institute of Technology (TIT), and executive programs at Harvard Business School.
